There's an entire world of amazing drum machines out there, but thanks to the magic of sampling, you don't have to own every one in order to get access to some incredible sounds, loops, and textures. Reverb.com is an incredible resource for pristinely sampled drum machines - both incredibly famous ones, and more obscure finds.
Today we're going to be using samples from the mid-80s Suzuki RPM-40 drum machine, which is described in some reviews as only recommended "if you like cheap early eighties digital sounds".
Download the samples from WeTransfer here. You can also browse direct on Reverb.com and see all the other tasty sounds and instruments they have available for free download!
Today's challenge is that ALL your drums should come from this pack. You can add any other samples, synths and instruments that you like, to make a track of ± 2 minutes long in two hours! Feel free to warp, crop, and mangle the samples as much as you like to your taste!
Submit your track to this Google Drive by 20:30pm, and then rejoin the Zoom call at 21:00 for our listening session!
Listen to what we made!
