Today is our second IRL meet-up for 2022! It's wonderful to have all of y'all who've joined us in person, and if you're doing the challenge from elsewhere, just know that you're in our hearts and wish you could be with us!
Today we're taking advantage of the fact that our listening session will be IRL rather than via Soundcloud, and we're using a sample that possibly wouldn't make it past the copyright-gods... this week we're using a the acappella from Missy Elliott's debut single 'The Rain (Supa Dupa Fly)'.
Download the Acappella from WeTransfer here.
Did you know that 'The Rain' uses a sample from Ann Peebles' 1973 single 'I Can't Stand The Rain'? So, I feel pretty good about re-sampling Missy's version.
Today's challenge is to use at least part of the Acapella, plus ANY other samples or sounds that you like, to make a track of ± 2 minutes. You can use any effects you like, and chop, mangle, and stretch the samples beyond being recognisable, and add anything you like!
Upload your finished track to this Google Drive here for our live listening session!
