Women of Noise was created in 2014 as a tumblr blog with an intention to promote and celebrate women in experimental music genres.
Since then, the platform has grown into a vibrant community of women artists, enthusiasts, and supporters, all united by their passion for pushing the boundaries of music. Through their podcast, zines and charity compilation albums they hope to amplify their voices, bring them into spotlight and create a supportive community.
One of the ways they do this is to release albums and sample packs raising funds for charity. Salma aka Funkykid put us onto their work, and in exchange for us making a donation to Doctors Without Borders on behalf of Éclat, Women Of Noise let us share their sample pack "Samples Without Borders" for this workshop.
Check out more of their work here, donate to Doctors Without Borders here, and download the sample pack from WeTransfer here!
This week's challenge is to use only samples from this pack (don't worry, it's HUGE, with 231 samples) to make a track of ~ 2 minutes long. You can warp, edit, chop and mangle the samples in any way that you like!
Submit your track to this Google Drive by 20:30pm, and then rejoin the Zoom call at 21:00 for our listening session!
Check out what we made below!
For tips on how to chop up longer samples for use in your productions, check out the tutorials below.
