Éclat Part 141
As I now no longer go on Twitter for obvious reasons, I occasionally dip my toe into BlueSky, and was delighted to see that my search for "Sample Pack" there this week turned up this INCREDIBLE treasure trove of samples from 20 year old Lumi aka Desx from Guadalajara Mexico, who has just released "Digital Dreamscape" - "a 16-track multigenre album which tells a story about finding a place beyond unwelcoming reality into a world where truly anything can happen."
She says: "Giving the community tools to make their own art is something I'm always a huge fan of, and a major driving force behind my album was to inspire others to create things, so I think this is a great move to nourish that. Be sure to fuck these sounds up for me. Make them your own. Create cool shit. I love you.
While this pack is being given away for free, if you would like to leave me a tip, you can do so directly on my Ko-fi or you can also buy my album on Bandcamp!"
The full sample pack is MASSIVE (so big that Google has to split it into two different Zip archives to download), and so to save ourselves from option paralysis, we're going to work with a single folder this evening - the Stupid Clips samples folder.
Download the samples for tonight from here!
If you would like to download the entire sample pack, you can do so here.
Tonight's challenge is to make a track of ± 2 minutes long, using at least one of the samples from the folder in a recognisable way. (You can still mangle and chop it but see if you can leave it as identifiable in the end track.) You can use any other synths, instruments or samples to make all your other sounds, but for anything drum-like or percussive, stick to only the sounds in the folder above.
Upload your track by 20:30 CEST to this Google Drive folder, and come back to the zoom call at 21:00 for our listening session!
